Region Västerbotten, formerly Västerbotten County Council, is a region for the 274,725 inhabitants of Västerbotten County. Like all regions, Region Västerbotten is primarily responsible for health care. In addition to health, dental and medical care, the region is also responsible for regional development in the county and the region. The region is also responsible for public transport between the county’s municipalities and also carries out cultural activities. The region was formed on 1 January 2019 through a merger of Västerbotten County Council, the regional association Region Västerbotten and corporate support from the County Administrative Board.
