Supporting collaborative health innovation solutions generated by Aerospace and Energy SMEs – 5 projects are supported in the Cross4Health 1st Open call

Aerospace and Energy SMEs work together with Health-related SMEs from sectors such as Biotechnology, ICT and Medical Devices to develop health solutions. In the 1st round 5 projects got the opportunity to join the acceleration programme of Cross4Health.

The Cross4Health 1st Open call was open to proposals on cross health solutions based on a combination of different sectors. These solutions – where connected care, innovations from aerospace and energy sector can be a catalyst  – help meet the needs of health care providers in Europe. Based on the analysis of today health challenges and interviews with Cross4Health cluster partners the following three key challenges were proposed to tackle:

  1. Provide safe remote care
    • The challenge is to help patients to undertake shared management of chronic diseases in order to remain independent and active in their communities using connected care solutions along the continuum of care.
  2. Optimised care environment of hospitals and other care institutions
    • This challenge is looking for solutions for more efficient care environments that support an approach to care that is predictive, preventative, personalised and participatory.
  3. Faster process from sample to result
    • The challenge is looking into solutions allowing for faster, more affordable, less invasive and more reliable sampling, testing and diagnosis.

SMEs selected in the 2 OPEN CALLS will receive support worth up to €60 000. In the first round 5 projects got the opportunity to enter the  user needs driven acceleration programme to support the SME’s innovation acceleration objectives.

Selected projects proposed by high performing SME teams will be directed from their conception until their graduation to market impact, growth generation and industrial turnover. Market studies vouchers, access to demonstrators, VC and Angel investors, coaching all will contribute to this objective. Moreover, the user elicitation Open Call challenges will ensure that there exists a
market for the new products and services.
